Since my first dives in 2006, I have completed thousands of
dives and travelled as far as Thailand and Florida to seek training
and mentorship from the best instructors in Technical, Rebreather
and Cave diving. My approach to teaching and to diving
generally is enthusiasm, passion, the highest quality training
possible and ongoing mentorship and support.
With like-minded friends, I founded TEC Divers (Training Exploration Conservation), a national network of dedicated divers, leading instructors and quality dive shops. One particular project I am leading is the exploration of every likely looking quarry, dam, mine and mud puddle for potential inland dive sites in NSW and Southern Queensland. We are also focused on making sure our divers minimise their environmental impact on dive sites through improved technique and awareness.
As an instructor, and as a founder of TEC Divers, my philosophy is to invest the time and effort at the earliest stages so that divers can achieve the highest possible standards of knowledge and technique. I believe my responsibility as an instructor extends to mentorship beyond the end of the course.
When we arrange a course for you, I will provide guidance, support and encouragement throughout pre-course preparation. During the training itself, I will invest the time and effort to ensure you achieve the highest standard, not just the minimum standard required to pass. At all times I will explain the context and reasons behind different techniques and standards.
My local area is Newcastle and Port Stephens which is ideal for Rebreather and Technical courses, having sheltered shore dives as deep as 30 meters, and nearby wrecks at around 45 meters. I regularly teach courses and dive everywhere between Coffs Harbour and Sydney, with frequent trips to Melbourne and Brisbane.
I am flexible on location and schedule. Travel is one of the reasons I love diving, so I am happy to travel anywhere in Australia to teach courses. Courses can be structured to meet my student's needs for full time or weekend training.
Once you have finished your training I will introduce you to other passionate divers and instructors through the TEC Divers network so that you have plenty of opportunity to practice your new skills, mentor others, and decide on your next progression.
